Patrick MacGregor was quite an outlaw in the Highlands in 1636. Hissecond son, James MacGregor (1645-1724) fought in his father's clan forthe cause of King Charles 1. As punishment for fighting with the losingside in this war, members of the MacGregor clan were ordered to changetheir names. James MacGregor changed his name to Thomas MacGehee.

Another publication, "Descendants of Patrick MacGregor" furnished to meby Mary Gibson of Seguin, Texas in May 2000, claims that one WilliamMackGehee was the son of Patrick and the father of Thomas MackGehee;therefore, I have elected to insert William as the son of Patrick andfather of Thomas.
